Winners of the VIDI X Science Factory Challenge 2025

Jury delighted with advanced projects developed for the VIDI X microcomputer

Our VIDI X winter challenge gathered numerous applications from schools that use VIDI X in computer science classes.

The winners were selected by an expert jury based on the criteria of originality of the idea, code performance, technical performance of the project and presentation of the project. This time it was not easy to choose the best because the projects were diverse and again showed us the countless possibilities of applying VIDI X. We present to you seven excellent VIDI X projects that we singled out in this VIDI X challenge for their originality, technical performance and quality presentation.

Project Pneumo bot arm. A very impressive demonstration of converting VIDI X logic signals into a signal suitable for pneumatic control. If you’ve ever wondered what VIDI X looks like in an industrial environment, this is the real illustration. This project also won first place in the technical performance category.

Project e-Ludo

We all love playing board games, and even more so when they are so expertly transferred to a digital environment. A specially designed printed circuit board with a processor connected 4 VIDI X microcomputers into a familiar game. This project also won first place in the presentation category.

Project Hexapod

This team created a complex code that uses 3 ESP32 microcontrollers and VIDI X displays the live stream of cameras mounted on the hexapod and serves as a remote control of the hexapod. This project also won first place in the code category.

Smart Greenhouse Project

A mini version of a greenhouse controlled by VIDI X is a great example of the application of informatics in an agricultural environment. Or, if you’re not going to plant a whole greenhouse of tomatoes, you can use this efficient code with VIDI X to help your houseplant survive a little longer. 😊

Tuner Project

If you’ve ever wondered how a guitar tuner works, this project shows you what it takes to read and measure audio signals from your environment. Great use of Bluetooth to control VIDI X.

Retro Emulator Project

We believe this is a project that every VIDI X user will want to try: turn a microcomputer into a classic gaming console.

Smart Piano Project

A great idea and simple code that turns your VIDI X into a musical instrument.

Each member of all 7 excellent teams that placed in the finals of the VIDI X Science Factory Challenge received 7 attractive and valuable prizes from our sponsor White Shark.
